  • Be the Inspiration July 1, 2018: Rotary begins the new year with a new emblem and a new phrase. Be the Inspiration
  • Gale Schafer becomes Fayette Rotary President June 20, 2018: Outgoing President Kurt Rohr (left) hands the gavel to Gale a few days early as Kurt was planning to be away for a few days. Gale was also the Club President in 2008-09. Gale Schafer becomes Fayette Rotary President

  • Third Graders get Dictionaries September 12, 2018: Each year Rotary purchases approximately 50 dictionaries to be distributed to the third graders early in the school year. A label is placed inside the cover with the student's name. The dictionary belongs to the student and may be used at school and/or at home. We thank Kurt Himmelmann for ordering and preparing the dictionaries. The three third grade teachers in the picture are (left side, standing) Adrian Stumbaugh, Susan Frevert and Lauren Schekorra.   • Alexander and Quint take Second September 16, 2018: Boonville, Columbia and Fayette Rotary Clubs hosted a Corn Hole Tournament on September 16 to raise funds for Polio Plus. Two member teams paid a $20 entry fee to compete in the double-elimination tournament. First place won $50 and their club received a 'bragging rights' trophy to be retained until the next tournament.   • Chicken Bingo winner October 3, 2018: Introduced to the Club this year is the game of Chicken Bingo. Squares are marked off on a large board and the squares are sold at $5 each. Those participating get their name placed on a 'Wheel-of-Fortune.' Each quarter the wheel is spun and the winner gets 250 Paul Harris recognition points from the Club. The first quarter winner is Roger Lembke. The wheel will be spun again first meeting after January 1. When all squares are sold, a chicken will be placed on the board. The chicken dropping will mark the $100 winner. Chicken Bingo winner

  • District 6080 Gov Susan Haralson (left) District 6080 Gov Susan Haralson (left) October 31, 2018: DG Susan Haralson visited the Club this day. In her talk she emphasized three points. Do 365 good deeds this year, have a fundraiser for Polio Plus, and promote Rotary in social media. While in attendance she witnessed a District Award by Assistant District Governor Marty Walker, presented a Paul Harris Fellow certificate and a Paul Harris Fellow Plus 2 pin.

  • October Students of the Month October Students of the Month November 28, 2018: Fayette High School SOM joined Rotary Club members for the annual Christmas meal and to be recognized for their outstanding achievements.   • Larry wins Chicken Bingo spin Larry wins Chicken Bingo spin January 9, 2019: Those who purchased tickets for the Chicken Bingo contest had their names placed on a rotating wheel. Each quarter the wheel is spun. The second quarter winner is Larry Anderson (left, pictured with President Gale Schafer.) Larry won 250 Paul Harris points, which he may apply toward his next pin or donate to another person.
  • Kurt Rohr - Paul Harris Fellow Kurt Rohr - Paul Harris Fellow January 9, 2019: Kurt Rohr along with fellow Rotarians swapped points to achieve 1000 Paul Harris points. Points are acquired by monetary points and match points. Assistant District Governor, Marty walker, presented Kurt with the pin and certificate.

  • Kurt Himmelmann receives +2 pin Kurt Himmelmann receives +2 pin January 9, 2019: Kurt keeps watch on those Rotary points and jumped at the opportunity to swap points with a fellow Rotarian and make him eligible for the next pin. All the dollars contributed to Rotary go to worthy causes around the world.
  • Marty Ferry receives +3 pin Marty Ferry receives +3 pin January 9, 2019: Marty, obviously, is a regular contributor to Rotary International as indicated by the number of sapphires seated on her pin.
  • Gale Schafer - Paul Harris Fellow Gale Schafer - Paul Harris Fellow January 9, 2019: Gale was surprised when Marty Walker called his name for he didn't know he was being so honored. Gale became the ninety-eighth person in the Fayette Rotary Club to become a Paul Harris Fellow.

  • New Member Glenn Ludtke New Member Glenn Ludtke January 23, 2019: On this day, Rotary members welcomed new member Glenn Ludtke. Glenn spent much of his life teaching in Oregon. Through his interest in music he became acquainted with the Fayette community. After many visits to the town, he decided to relocate here. Welcome Glenn!
  • Larry Anderson receives +1 pin Larry Anderson receives +1 pin January 23, 2019: Larry is our Foundation Chair. After realizing how easy it was to swap Paul Harris points, he and several others in the club used their points to receive Paul Harris recognition or climb to the next level of sapphire pins.
  • Pat Roll receives +1 pin Pat Roll receives +1 pin January 23, 2019: Pat, like Larry, swapped points to receive a sapphire pin with two stones in it.
  • Trivia Night Trivia Night February 2, 2019: Trivia Night is our club's big fundraiser night. This year the club raised more than $2000 toward their matching grant and local projects. The event was led by Chair person and MC Jim Steele (left,) who reported that over 80% of the club membership contributed to the successful evening. Also present in the picture is club President Gale Schafer.
  • Trivia Night Trivia Night February 2, 2019: Treasurer Kurt Himmelmann (sitting) sold "Dead or Alive" and "50-50" raffle tickets for a time during the evening.
  • Trivia Night Trivia Night February 2, 2019: Twelve teams of up to ten members constituted the competing trivia teams. Rotary members provided free food and drink for the participating 'trivia experts."
  • Roger Lembke has best hand Roger Lembke has best hand February 13, 2019: President Gale Schafer came up with a way to bring prospective persons to our meetings. Members were encouraged to invite potential members to meetings without cost to them. To add some fun, each member in attendance would receive a playing card. They would also receive a card for each guest in attendance. At the end of the period, the best five-card stud hand won - three queens and two nines. Prize: $25 gift certificate.

  • March Students of the Month March Students of the Month April 10, 2019: Once again a person to-be-recognized could not be present. Meghan Felten could not be present for the picture. On April 10, 2019, four FHS students were recognized as the outstanding students for the month of March. In the picture (left to right), senior Emma Hoover, junior Jayden Wright, and freshman Devan Elliott.
  • Amber Overfelt joins Rotary Amber Overfelt joins Rotary April 10, 2019: Amber, business manager at Howard Electric, joins Rotary as the primary in the new corporate membership. Richard Fowler is the associate member.
  • Jim Steele - Chicken Bingo winner Jim Steele - Chicken Bingo winner April 10, 2019: Jim Steele is the third quarter Chicken Bingo winner. All persons who had purchased squares on the Chicken Bingo board have their names placed on a 'wheel of fortune' wheel. Each quarter the wheel is spun. Jim wins 250 Paul Harris points.

  • Jennifer Essary joins Rotary Jennifer Essary joins Rotary April 24, 2019: Jennifer is pastor at Linn Memorial Methodist Church. She replaced Rotary member David Hutchison, who moved to Batesville, AR. Jennifer is a former pharmacist.

  • Glenn Higedick - Business Leader Glenn Higedick - Business Leader April 27, 2019:This year the Fayette Rotary Club selected Glenn Hilgedick of Hilgedick Electric as Rotary's Businees Leader of the Year. Jim Steele provided a list of Glenn's accomplishments. His comments are list on this website under the heading Business Person recognition.
  • Pat Roll has best poker hand Pat Roll has best poker hand May 15, 2019: In an effort to increase our membership, President Gale Schafer suggested that members who invited potential new member guests to Rotary be given a poker hand playing card for each guest they invited. They also received a playing card for their attendance. At the end of the six week drive, the best poker hand was chosen. Pat Roll was the winner of the $25 gift certificate.
  • Greg Stidham - Big Winner Greg Stidham - Big Winner June 12, 2019: Also new this year was the Chicken Bingo fundraiser for Polio Plus. Squares were marked off on a board and sold for $5 per square. 80% of the squares were sold. Each quarter a 'wheel of fortune' was spun and 250 Paul Harris were awarded the win (see earlier pictures.) For the final event of the Chicken Bingo contest, a chicken was placed atop the board. The chicken dropping was used to mark the winning square. Greg Stidham had purchased the marked square, giving him the $100 cash prize, which he donated to the Rotary Foundation.
