Message from the Fayette Rotary President Linda Lembke

Increase, Expand, Enhance, Adapt!

By being members of the Rotary Club of Fayette, each of us can help make Rotary’s vision statement a reality.  I look forward to being our club’s President beginning July 3 and hope to help our club further Rotary’s vision.

I have been attending a variety of training courses for President-Elects and have learned that Rotary International has four strategic priorities and objectives: Increase our impact, Expand our Reach, Enhance Participant Engagement and Increase our Ability to Adapt.  Our District Governor-Elect has set as our district’s number one priority Membership which includes growing and diversifying our membership and participation. Our board is looking for ways to increase participation and attendance in our club.

We recently implemented a new method of selecting Program Chairs in the hopes that we would get more people involved in selecting our programs and attending our meetings.  Twenty-six members out of 35 will be in charge of the program for at least one meeting in the coming year.  We hope to see a variety of programs which will appeal to a wide range of club members.

The board wants to try some different things this year, including a Cookout/Potluck in the park with the American Legion.  Families will be welcome at this event which will be on a Saturday and will replace one of our regular meetings.  You will receive more information closer to the event on July 13.  Another possibility is a family barbecue, possibly in August.

Our grant project for 2024-25 involves the Boys and Girls Club of Fayette. There will be plenty of opportunities to work with this worthwhile organization as we seek to find ways to strengthen its fitness program.  Would you like to coach, select sports equipment, or even help design a basketball court?

If you have ideas as to how we can make your Rotary Club experience more meaningful to you, please talk to one of the members of the board (see attachment) or, better yet, think about becoming a member of the board. The board meets immediately following the regular meeting on the second Wednesday of each month.  Meetings are usually about 30 minutes.  We presently have openings for two elected board members and one or two president-selected members.  Let me know if you would like your name to be put on the slate or if you know someone you think would be a good board member.

I hope to see more of you at our meetings and events throughout the coming year.

Linda
